Last night a group of us went to get Thai massages across the street from the hotel. It was cost a total of 400 baht for an hour massage, which is about $12.00. All six of us were placed in an onsen-like area with mats on the floor and told to dress in the most comfortable pajamas in the world…from the outside, it looked a little like a sleepover (in matching pajamas). Thai massage is performed with the recipient clothed, and it includes techniques similar to something like an assisted yoga. Thanks to my sister, Leah, who studied Thai massage in Thailand a few years ago, I was prepare for the experience.
Six women came into the room to give us massages. They started by washing our feet in a basin of warm, soapy water. Then, the hour long massage was relaxing and stretching. It is going to be hard not to partake in frequent massages while here in Thailand, since all of the treatments are so inexpensive!
