In Thailand, a courteous man will show respect for a woman by carrying her purse. It is common to see a high school boy carrying the large, knock-off Gucci tote or an adult man carrying a sparkling clutch belonging to his mother.
Our Fulbright group consists of 13 women and 3 men. They started playing rock, paper, scissors to determine who has to carry five purses instead of four.
