During a few of yesterday’s lectures we learned about different aspects connected to Honolulu’s China Town. Today, we had the chance to participate in a walking tour of the area on our way to lunch.
There has been a recent emphasis to restore and/or preserve the area, which was seen during our walk. For example, when the owner of the “Hubba Hubba Girls” strip club put a neon sign on their building the 1950’s they probably did not think it would be considered historically significant today!
We also had a chance to see a few of the lei shops we learned about yesterday. The shops are filled with amazing flowers; the pictures do not adequately express their beauty, as the scents are such an important part of the experience.
