KOTO Training School for the Second Chance

Tonight we attended a cooking class at the KOTO Training School, which helps prepare disadvantaged young people for careers in the culinary arts. After completing the 24 month training program, graduates are well positioned for jobs at hotels and restaurants. The school boasts a 100% job placement rate. The school, which runs as a non-profit, has an excellent mission.

Last month we learned how to make pad thai during a cooking class in Bangkok, and tonight we had the opportunity to learn how to prepare five Vietnamese dishes. A few of the dished looked easy…with the constant supervision of the instructor and the pre-cut ingredients we used. However, I am thinking that it would be pretty easy to make my own spring rolls in the future.

Following the cooking lesson, our entire group sat down to an excellent meal of food we helped (a little) prepare.
