Caomdaism

Today we visited the Cao Dai Temple, which was built by practitioners of the Caomdaism religion. The Caomdaism religion was created by Ngo Minh Chieu, who was a well-educated French civil servant. In 1919, he believed he started receiving revelations from God about the truth concerning religions. In 1926, he revealed his teachings to the public, and he created a new religion which combined teachings from Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism, Confucianism, Christianity, Islam, and other religions.

Immediately following the victory of the North in the War, Cao Dailists suffered along with other religions. Today, however, it seems that most Vietnamese can practice religions openly.
