The Forbidden City in Hue

Hue’, the city we are now visiting, was the capital of unified Vietnam in 1802 under French colonization. It was known at the both the political, cultural and political center of the country until 1945, when the revolution led by Ho Chi Mihn moved control of the country to Hanoi. We were able to visit the walled confines of the former capital city, including the inside of the portion utilized exclusively by royalty.

The grounds are still very well kept, and the visit allowed for a great appreciation for the rich history of Vietnam. It has also be recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
